Jarir Mahfoud, Born in 1963 in Beirut, Lebanon. He got his Mechanical Engineering diploma form Bagdad University (Iraq) in 1984. Master degree from INSA Lyon (France) in 1986 on rotor balancing. PhD from INSA Lyon in 1990 on Flexible Rotor Balancing, Associate Professor at INSA Lyon since 1991. Earlier on in career, He worked on System Health Monitoring applied on power transmission systems. Invited professor position at the Federal University of Uberlandia (Brazil) in 2005, where he started research on optimization and vibration control of structure. Invited professor position at Cairo University (Egypt) in 2009 for the development of hybrid bearings. Invited professor position at HassaanII University (Morocco) in 2012 for the development of the control of non-linearity. Then he started to work on the dynamics of rotating machinery supported by Active Magnetic Bearing (AMB). Since 2009, he is working with General Electric Oil&Gas on the dynamic behavior of turbomachines supported by AMB. His research in the present concern the design and optimization of Electromagnetic Actuators, dynamic behavior of turbomachines in severe operating conditions and topological optimization.
